I want to have my loved ones who don’t live in my same area to feel involved as I choose my wedding dress. What suggestions do you have to include them in my decision?
This is a great question! At The Bridal Connection, we have many brides who live in different areas from their mom/sisters/loved ones and would like them to have a say in the final wedding dress. Fortunately, we have a few tips to help you all come together for this occasion, even when you are miles apart.
- Use technology – Try setting up a time to have everyone you would like to involve on Skype, Face Time, or Google Hangouts. This way they can watch and give you feedback live and feel more like they are actually there with you. Texting photos can also work if a data connection is an issue.
- Narrow down your choices ahead of time – If you narrow down your choices to two gowns, set up a separate appointment and ask your loved ones to give their opinion on each of the two gowns.
- Ask them to help you choose accessories. If you find the perfect gown without your out of town family, consider asking for their opinion on your veil, shoes, belt, or jewelry. Each piece can have a significance from different members of your family and create a wedding ensemble that represents the many people that love you.
- If they are coming in to the area for the wedding, ask if they would like to come for a fitting. Your final fitting should occur in the week or two before your wedding, and attending a fitting is a great way to give your loved ones a sneak peek of your gown.
I hope this was helpful for you! Thank you for asking such a great question.
